Position SummaryClinical Support staff work collaboratively with all members of the care team providing world class service to both the patients and staff of Martin's Point.
This is accomplished by:
o Working to actively enhance patient relationships and loyalty o Pre-planning for patient visits o Managing visit cycle time, office workflows, and patient access (phone, scheduling) o Assisting assigned provider and care team with rooming and patient care procedures, including electronic documentation o Coordinating patient activities that support managing the targeted population's health o Clinical Support staff will receive day-to-day clinical direction from the on-site RN Clinical Operations Leads, Clinical Managers or Clinical Quality SpecialistsJob DescriptionKey Outcomes:
Facilitates patient-centered visit by ensuring proper screening, documentation, and/or testing has been completed.
Ensures all consults and charts are scanned, downloaded and communicated in preparation for patient contact.
With provider supervision, work in provider desktop, review and assist in Health Matrix and other population health management functions.
Coordinates and manages provider's desktop activity (i.
e.
, lab result reporting, phone calls, order entry, RX processing, and outreach efforts) following standard processes and protocols in oversight of meeting provider and patient needs.
Triages as directed by protocols.
Performs direct patient care services in accordance with clinical protocols in a patient-centered manner.
Ensure provider schedule meets the needs of patients (visit and non-visit).
Participates in daily huddles and regular team meetings to improve workflows and contribute to improving patient population outcomes.
Performs and documents necessary ancillary tests such as EKGs, PFTs, Peak Flow Rates, Rapid Strep, HCG's, Glucose Checks, INR's, and H.
Pylori Testing.
May perform various waive lab tests as ordered by provider.
Performs and documents lab specimen collection/processing, eye screening and audiology screening in accordance with current protocols and policies.
Depending on level of licensure, may administer immunizations, allergy shots and medications in accordance with current protocols ensuring level and scope of practice standards.
Ensure exam rooms are prepared for patient visits, including equipment operability, supply inventory, and cleanliness utilizing standard stocking procedures.
Ensure patient care equipment operates in accordance with quality standards.
Provides patient education in support of patient visit and ongoing care.
Assist with orientation and training of new staff members.
Maintain clinical/technical skills and knowledge through ongoing development and continuing education.

Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent For Clinical Support I :
Must hold a current MA certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT and retain active certification for duration of employment.
Completion of a two year accredited Medical Assistant Program/Associate Degree is preferred.
For Clinical Support II :
Completion of Licensed Practical Nurse program and an active, unrestricted LPN license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required Related experience in a physician's office, medical setting or outpatient clinic required.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities - Demonstrated ability to:

Identify necessary equipment and materials for patient visits Room patients in accordance with established protocol and visit purpose Obtain and record vital signs.

Other nursing services that require education and training prescribed by the board and in conformance with national nursing standards.
Additional nursing services shall be commensurate with the LPNs experience, continuing education, and demonstrated LPN competencies.
LPNs who have successfully completed the curriculum of a board-approved LPN intravenous therapy course (State specific) may administer intravenous solutions under the direction of a physician.
Each nurse is accountable to clients, the nursing profession, and the board for complying with the requirements and the quality of nursing care rendered and for recognizing limits of knowledge and experience and planning for or management of situations beyond the nurse's expertise.
Scope of Practice for Clinical Support I (aligned with Medical Assistant)MAs work under the license of their supervising physician.
MA's may report to Clinical Leadership staff for tasks that do not require clinical judgment.
Tasks requiring clinical judgment and health counseling must be overseen by the physician they are supporting.
MA's may assist Physicians, Physicians Assistants and Nurse Practitioners with patient preparation and treatment, patient chart organization, dissemination of reports; referrals, telephone calls, inventory, ordering and general organization.
MA's may be required to have an authorization by the state to perform needle injections and venipunctures.
MA's may be required to demonstrate knowledge and demonstrate competence in vaccine/medication administration prior to and/or ongoing in their regular assignment of duties.
Some states require that the medical assistants who draw blood for lab tests are certified and have passed a practical exam as part of phlebotomy training.
Duties vary according to state law and include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting during diagnostic examinations.
Medical assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments.
MA's may instruct patients about medications and special diets as directed, prepare and administer medications as directed, authorize drug refills according to protocols as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood, prepare patients for X-rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures, and change dressings.
MA's serve as direct link and communicator between patient and other health care professionals.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
